Great that you found us on the web. I hope that here you will find what you are looking for. But most of all, we want to welcome you to our worship, our many community activities, or to meet with church staff to address your specific questions. Below, you will find some information, in a nutshell, to help you get started. We hope to see you soon!

Who we are

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vantaa is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Finland, to which more than half of the Finnish population belong.

Our church has long since ceased to be a church for Finns only. Today, it is an increasingly international community with people from many countries, cultures, and languages. In and around Helsinki, we provide regular worship and activities in Arabic, Chinese, English, Estonian, and Russian, and occasional activities in a dozen other languages.

In Vantaa, the church is divided into seven parishes. Six of them cover different areas of Vantaa. The seventh parish serves the Swedish-speaking community in Vantaa.

What we believe

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
John 3:16

This Bible text expresses the core of what we believe. In the early centuries of the Church, the Christian faith was expressed in three statements of faith (aka Creeds): the Nicene Creed, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. They explain what we believe about God and the relation between God and his creation.

We would love to welcome you to any of our worship and other activities, whatever your personal religious convictions and beliefs.
