Volunteering — every good deed is important

We are looking for do-gooders and benefactors. Anyone that finds joy in brightening someone’s day is welcome. You could be a musician or a social media enthusiast. You could help by keeping another person company for a coffee or being that friendly someone to talk to for a lonely person. Invaluable help would also be providing a hand for a shopping trip, or company for an afternoon walk. You could surely make someone’s day by performing at an elderly home or assisted living facility.

You can choose any task suitable for you, volunteer to do regular shifts at convalescent homes, or join us for as long as you like.
You can also share your own ideas on how we could all combine our efforts to make Vantaa an even better place to live!

A volunteer works with the knowledge and skills they have got, keeping in mind their own personal resources. Volunteers are interviewed and thoroughly introduced to the task before starting their volunteering career. Volunteers are given regular training and provided with recreational activities.

In the parishes of Vantaa, you can volunteer, among other things:

• as a handyman helping with any light household maintenance and repair work 
• as a club or group instructor in various clubs for children, young people, adults, as well as the elderly
• working at the cafés as a kitchen hand or member of the wait staff, or helping at the checkout counter
• as a social media streamer filming and broadcasting a live broadcast for our social media platforms
• at Church Mass as an assistant, lector, and collecting contributions
• as a collector for the Common Responsibility Campaign or other Church campaign
• as an event organiser, coffee maker, or helping hand
• as an aid to the elderly and keeping them company as a part of the Friendly Visiting Services
• as a musician playing an instrument or singing, cheering up the residents of a convalescent home
• in an arts and crafts group weaving rugs for those in need in Vantaa and all around the world
