Myyrmäki Church

From Louhela station to the church

The hub of a large parish, Myyrmäki Church is a place of worship, but also a venue for a variety of other activities.

The train speeds north through western Vantaa. Just a few moments from Myyrmäki Station, and the train arrives at Louhela Station. That’s when you spot Myyrmäki Church.

On weekdays trains pass the church twelve times an hour: six times north towards Vantaankoski, six times south towards Helsinki. Thousands of people commute by train, morning to work, evening back home.

Myyrmäki Church was completed in 1984. In addition to the actual sanctuary, the building houses a separate chapel, two meeting halls, the parish offices, and facilities for children’s and young people’s ministries. The sanctuary seats 450, but with the adjoining meeting halls the capacity is over 700.

Vantaankoski Parish is one of seven Evangelical-Lutheran parishes in Vantaa with a membership of c. 30,000. Myyrmäki Church is the main church of the parish.

To get to the main entrance, you have to walk the length of the meandering outer walls. Passing through the low entrance hall, you arrive at the spacious sanctuary that is filled with light.
